Bee Spears, longtime friend of STMA founder Mark Dreyer, passed away Thursday December 8, 2011. "If it weren't for Bee I probably wouldn't have moved to Nashville over 20 years ago", he was a true friend and collaborator of mine for years. We had worked on various projects together and he will really be missed.

Longtime bassist for Willie Nelson & Family band Bee Spears is a highly sought-after musician in both Nashville and his native Texas. A member of Willie Nelson's touring and recording band for over forty years, he has played on countless recordings by other legendary artists including Waylon Jennings, Guy Clark, and Jerry Jeff Walker. Bee's songwriting and arranging skills and 'studio tan' have made hm a natural in the producer's chair as well.
